Like clockwork, Apple has been dropping new iPhones in September – for the most part anyways. Unfortunately like everything else this year, things aren’t running according to schedule. Apple’s CFO Luca Maestri said during an earnings call w/ investors today to expect it to be a few weeks late.
The more specific why behind it could be several things as Maestri didn’t address it. Rumors say it could be several reasons why. One of them being that they delayed mass production by a month and another is that Qualcomm getting delayed for its 5G radio that supposed to be inside of it. Both of the potential reasons are due to being impacted by the current pandemic.
This isn’t the 1st time this happened as the iPhone X dropped in November 2017, the iPhone XR came in October, and even last year they started shipping phones in late September. As far as what’s supposed to be coming, we’re expecting 4 models of the iPhone 12 starting at 128GB of storage 5G support, LiDAR support for better Portrait photos + AR, and Pro models getting a faster refresh display.
