The TCL NXTPAPER 70 Pro is the company’s latest mid-range Android smartphone, revealed at CES. For the uninitiated, NXTPAPER is the company’s e-ink-based screen technology, which allows users to switch between Color and Black & White screens with the toggle of a button. The 70 Pro is bringing the company’s A-game e-ink display along with some impressive specs.
It offers a 6.9-inch 120Hz 1080p color e-ink display with a matte finish and 900 nits of brightness. The 70 Pro is utilizing the 4th-gen NXTPAPER display, which lets users switch between Color Paper, Ink Paper, and Max Ink modes. The screen also offers a natural light mode, zero flicker, blue light protection, and anti-glare viewing.
It’s powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chip, up to 24GB of RAM, up to 512GB of storage that’s expandable via micro SD card, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, an IP68-rated body, dual speakers, stylus support via the company’s T-Pen, Android 16, and a 5,200 mAh battery with 33W fast-charging. TCL quotes up to 26 days of standby when using Max Ink mode.
As for the cameras, the 70 Pro features a 50MP main sensor with an f/2.0 aperture and OIS, as well as a secondary 8MP sensor on the rear. The main sensor is capable of capturing 4K video. A 32MP selfie camera complements both. The company is also trying to beef up its shooters using a new MuseFilm imaging technology to enhance its images.
The NXTPAPER Pro 70 will ship in Nebula Gold and Stellar Blue color options and will be available sometime in February, but US pricing has not yet been revealed.
