BMW recently unveiled its new 3 Series last month and isn’t letting up on the gas (pun intended). The company took to NYC this morning to unveil its newest 7 series for 2027. The luxury sedan was teased earlier this week on the company’s Instagram feed with its massive grille utilizing its Neue Klasse design and technologies for its new design language.
On the outside, the new 7 series brings forth a new two-tone finish comprised of traditional and matte paint jobs, which BMW quotes as taking over 75 hours to paint one vehicle. It touts minimal crystal headlights with customizable Welcome and Goodbye light shows. The premium vehicle is also equipped with updated automatic doors with new sensors for an improved soft-close action.
Inside, it’s armed with a new Panoramic iDrive with BMW Operating System X software, which handles all of the information across the many screens and its new steering wheel; a new 3D Heads-Up Display (HUD) that projects selected content in the driver’s line of sight; a new Panoramic Vision, which showcases relevant content on the lower end of the windshield area; a new steering wheel that supports haptic feedback and lights selected controls when available; and adds Amazon’s Alexa+ to its Intelligent Personal Assistant software for conversational voice controls and knowledge base.
In the front seats, the curved Central Display increases in size from 14.9 inches to 17.9 inches, with a backlit screen that controls navigation, infotainment, climate, and vehicle settings. The front-seat passenger gets their own screen for individual access to BMW’s array of entertainment options, such as music, video streaming, and gaming via the company’s Digital Premium service, which is standard for four years. At the rear, its roof-mounted 31-inch 8K Theater Screen is upgraded with a camera for video conferences and door-mounted passenger-control screens. BMW also upgrades to a Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system with Dolby Atmos support, up to 36 speakers, and 4D audio.
The base model 7 offers up to 394 hp and 398 lb-ft of torque, with 0 to 60 mph in under five seconds, and starts at $99,800. Then there’s a 750e xDrive PHEV, which offers a 308 hp 6-cylinder engine with a 194 hp electric motor to create 483 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. And lastly, the new 7 Series will also arrive in the form of two EV sedans: the i7 50 xDrive, which starts at $106,200, and the i7 60 xDrive, which starts at $124,700.
The 50 xDrive offers dual motors capable of up to 449 hp and 487 lb-ft of torque and goes from 0 to 60mph in 5.3 seconds. While the 60 xDrive touts 536 hp and 549 lb-ft of torque and goes from 0 to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds. Both will get a boost from their predecessor’s battery voltage from a 105.7 to 112.5 kWh cell, increasing the charging rate from 195 to 250 kW and adding up to 350 miles of range, which is quoted to charge from 10 to 80% in under 30 minutes.
