Over the weekend, a new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reveals Apple’s potential plans to rethink its smartwatches. The evolution of the Apple Watch would be a similar approach to the company’s upcoming foldable iPhone, which was called a ‘revolutionary design change,’ as they’re currently exploring several directions for evaluation.
Apple is currently considering new screen-less wearables, similar to the Fitbit Air, Whoop, and others. This is thanks in part to the resurgence of fitness bands and smart rings, to where the company is at least thinking about it. Also in consideration are new Apple Watches with different screen types and sizes, such as the atypical, round watch screen, but it is doubtful it will hit the market. This also includes new premium versions with additional budget options to sell with the Apple Watch SE.
Apple is looking to make its future wearables focused around AI, which would lead to the eventual revamped Health app. In the meantime, the company is still figuring out which option to go with as they’re in search of breathing new life into their wearables, which hasn’t been growing in the past few years.
