Pokemon. Gotta catch ’em all and all of that jazz. Nintendo & Niantic Labs released one hell of a game on Thursday called Pokemon Go. It was announced last year and is finally ready for public consumption. It got off to a rocky start as the masses rushed to download & play that slammed their servers but by the end of the day on Friday, good to go.
The point of the game is like the Pokemon lore, catch all (or as many as you ca) to be the ultimate Pokemon master. The game utilizes Google Maps services & augmented reality to catch these pocket monsters in real life. Like, catch a Squirtle in the parking lot of your job or the mall or something.
You also have a Pokedex (index for the little monsters), gyms where your Pokemon can fight others, and Pokestops (a pitstop where you can get items). You can level up by doing just about anything within the game like catching Pokemon, fighting at a gym, visiting pokeballs and more. Gyms are also where you can join teams like Blue, Red, or Yellow. Your Pokemon can also evolve but its best to wait until you’ve hit levle 10 to do so.
This game is currently available in the US, Australia, & New Zealand. Other countries/territories will get it soon. Make sure you equip yourself w/ a battery pack as this will drain your phone’s battery w/ the quickness. Either that or turn off the augmented reality interface.
