Well FlipVideo has met it’s match with Sony’s Webbie, uhh well now Bloggie. Sony has introduced their new line of blogging accessible video camera with a new name as well as a new look. The FlipVideo has been a new line of technology for bloggers since 2006, in which you spend less and get more to get video online, whether it is for YouTube, Twitter, Picasa or a video blog. Now Sony has interrupted that reign for Cisco, newly acquired from Pure Digital. FlipVideo has definetly had a huge following in it’s short lived time, 2006 to current, and made a great mark on the world of technology but Sony has come to do what it has been known to do dominate.
FlipVideo has been able to maintain reasonable prices ranging from $149.99 to $229.99 with the latter being video shot with HD quality (720 resolutions) but Sony and the newly revamped Bloggie comes equipped with 1080 resolution HD quality but with a price tag ranging from $169.99 to $199.99 with the latter offering a 5x optical zoom where the FlipVideo is only offering digital zoom. The Bloggie lacks on board memory but unlike it’s predecessor , the Webbie, it does not subject the owner to just a Memory stick (which can be quite expensive) but also allows SD capabilities (which are more reasonably priced). The FlipVideo on the other hand ranges from a 60 minute (4gb) to a 120 minute (8gb) on board memory.

FlipVideo is also customizable with designs and also offers FlipShare TV.

In the end make a smart choice. Ask yourself what do you need? An affordable video blogging camcorder with 60 minutes and no zoom or 5x optical zoom and SD cards. In my personal opinion I would prefer to pay for the optical zoom and interchangeable SD cards, hey that is because if I lose my blogging camcorder I won’t lose everything with it. That is just my 2 cents.
