Crunchpad is the world’s 1st tablet PC brought to you by a start-up company Fusion Garage & founder of tech blog TechCrunch. The CrunchPad comes equipped with a 1.6GHz Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, 1 USB port for keyboard/mouse, and Wifi/3G connectivity. It has a 12 inch touchscreen, weighing in at 1.2kg and 0.74 inch thick that uses a Web-centric browser operating system, based on Web Kit, created by Fusion Garage. The OS features a virtual keyboard, and allows users to type or carry out other tasks using their fingers. For instance, swiping a finger to the left goes back a page in an open document, while swiping right turns the page. An accelerometer allows the device to adjust automatically to portrait or landscape view, depending on which way you hold it. The CrunchPad is estimated at $399 for pricing and scheduled for a November release.
