After months of speculating, leaks, lost prototypes in bars, the iPhone 4 is here! Running the new iOS4 (no longer the iPhone OS as it is a mulitplatform OS now) this new badboy is packed with a bunch of goodies to make everyone on AT&T shoot for an early upgrade or simply upgrade for those who are eligible. The iPhone 4 is 9.3mm thick ,which is 24% thinner than the 3GS, with glass front and back w/ aluminum steel siding. The steel siding also doubles as part of the phone’s antenna. The screen is measured at 3.5inches, 960 x 640 screen resolution and 800:1 contrast ratio. The screen uses “retina display” which increases pixel density by 4x for super sharp screen images by 326 pixels per inch. The iPhone 4 is packed with a 1GHz A4 processor which is the same as the iPad. The battery life is improved by having a bigger battery causing APple to use Micro-SIM cards because they needed the room. The battery life on the i4 is quoted at 7hrs 3G, 6hrs 3G browsing, 10hrs Wi-Fi browsing, 10hrs video playback, 40hrs music playback and 300 hrs standby. The i4 has a front-facing camera for video chatting dubbed FaceTime will be Wi-Fi ONLY for this year and will work with the 5MP camera on the back with an LED flash, 5x digital zoom, and backside illuminated camera sensor. It also records video at 720p@30fps along with built-in video editing via iMovie (unfortunately NOT free, $4.99in the app store). The iPhone 4 is set to come in a 32GB model with Wi-Fi N support and 7.2Mbps down/4.8Mbps up 3G support. The iPhone 4 will be available in two colors: black and white and pricing for the 16GB is $199 and for the 32GB $299. The new iPhone 4 will be available June 24th in the US, France, UK, Germany, and Japan. Pre-ordering begins June 15th and anyone who’s contract is ending in 2010 is eligible for the upgrade pricing. The iOS4 will be free and available for the 3G/3GS with some limitations starting June 21st. A few more pics lies below.
