Kotaku.com has answered the question that been plaguing everyone thinking about buying the new Xbox.  The red rings of death have been a plague in Xbox users since its creation.  I have gone through 3 Xbox systems since getting one the first day it was released.  Apparently Microsoft decided to design the newer Xbox without any red rings to display, instead you shall see just a red dot.  They got a quote from Microsoft’s support team below:

According to Microsoft’s support team, while the console won’t display a “red ring” in times of hardware failure, it will still clearly indicate an error by switching its power indicator (the light in the centre of the ring) from green to red. So we’ll get a red…dot of death instead. RDoT. It has a certain ring about it, no?

This doesn’t necessarily mean that the new Xbox won’t have any errors but you won’t have to worry about seeing the dreaded red rings of death anymore.
