We here at TGSB finally got our hands on the newest hype over at Apple, the iPhone 4. After being leaked by a poor Apple employee leaving it in a bar and being sold to Gizmodo to AT&T servers crashing due to i4 pre-order overload. The i4 had a rocky start before its release.

*The Good*

When you hold one in your hands, you definitely won’t miss the older look/feel. The glass screen, steel casing, new volume, sleep/wake buttons makes for a new wave of style & innovation. Apple’s ‘retina screen’ with 3.5 inch w/ 960 x 640 resolution makes for one of the most crisp smartphone screen out there. The 1GHz A4 processor makes everything speedy merged with the new iOS4 which packs a hell of a features along with the 512MB of memory. The camera on iPhone was always better than it looked but now with a 5MP camera now with a LED flash. The 1.3MP front-facing camera performs as well as can be expected. The 720p video recording is definitely one of the best. The battery life is equivalent to the BlackBerry Bold which can give you a 1 or 2 days of normal-heavy usage which is a plus for previous iPhones.  Below are pics taken with the i4’s 5MP beauty.

*The Bad*

Problems that I came across with the new i4 was that the Wi-Fi only FaceTime video calling feature didn’t connect as often as I’d like it to. A strong Wi-Fi signal is required to keep FaceTime connected though. Along with being an AT&T exclusive US device acts as a double-edged sword. As Apple attempts to assist their network by making the silver lining on the i4 act as an antenna/reception booster and yet still call reception is still an issue in certain areas. The iOS4 offers multitasking but it is still limited to 7 apps at a time with apps paused in the background. The only true multitasking apps are music, VoIP services, and location/GPS based services.

*TG 2 Cents*

The new design of the i4 may not look as welcoming as compared to the previous iPhones, but some people fear change. I, being an avid BlackBerry user, actually preferred the new look. This new iPhone 4 definitely raises the bar yet again with the most immaculate screen in the game right now. While the EVO 4G & Droid X serving as competition for the i4, Apple’s latest definitely holds its own. Any anti-Android touchscreen lovers who loved media-heavy devices, go for the new iPhone 4.
