Def Jam is trying their hands at it again. We all should remember Def Jam Vendetta, Fight for NY and Icon three historical fighting games that use our hip hop icons as fighters to settle their differences on our television for our personal entertainment, sounds familiar. Now brand new gaming company 4MM is taking the road just traveled by Guitar Hero, RockBand, DJ Hero and the likes of games using karaoke themed styles for fun is introducing Def Jam Rapstar. While using radio edits of all songs, they are looking to creating a new life for the much talked about demise of hip hop. Let’s bring music back into the family and household with safe and fun through a media source that is showing no signs of going anywhere, video games. I await anxiously for the opportunity to get rated on Slick Rick’s Children Story, Biz Markie’s Just A Friend and C.L. Smooth and Pete Rock’s Reminisce Over You. They have also used some of today’s artist such as Drake, Kanye West, T.I. and Young Jeezy. At last we all have to wait until October 5th for the official release but you can preorder with GameStop. Def Jam Rapstar will be available for all platforms (360, PS3, Wii) and it will include a microphone or for $10 less you can go without your mic, but as NAS said all you need is one mic. With that one mic you can also try your skills in a freestyle battle mode with beats produced by Just Blaze, DJ Premier and other notable producers. And for those brave acts you can actual show the world how you throw down by using your accessory camera and produce and edit your own music video and upload it to YouTube, or the Def Jam community at www.defjamrapstar.com.
