Looks like Google is quite content with the Nexus One as they have no plans on making the sequel. Although it isn’t the most mentioned Android device out there, it does have a huge following. Being one of the only current device running a pure Android OS without any type of UI (Motoblur, Sense, TouchWiz), it definitely stands out in that manner. It really needed to be sold in retail stores, it would have sold more if the people got to touch/play with the device. I, along with others, would be very curious to see what the Nexus Two would’ve looked like or done.
The idea a year and a half ago was to do the Nexus One to try to move the phone platform hardware business forward. It clearly did. It was so successful, we didn’t have to do a second one. We would view that as positive but people criticized us heavily for that. I called up the board and said: ‘Ok, it worked. Congratulations – we’re stopping’. We like that flexibility, we think that flexibility is characteristic of nimbleness at our scale
