After Microsoft put a lot of money into advertising and lackluster sales after only a few months, Microsoft decides to pull the plug on their KIN devices. KIN owners will continue to receive support on their devices as Microsoft decides to shift focus to Windows Phone 7. Verizon’s monthly pricing didn’t do any justice in help keeping it alive. Honestly Microsoft, I love the KIN idea but it was a few years too late. Most of the Sidekick fanbase has dispersed to the iPhone, BlackBerry, or Android devices. Below is a statement from Microsoft:
“We have made the decision to focus on our Windows Phone 7 launch and we will not ship KIN in Europe this fall as planned. Additionally, we are integrating our KIN team with the Windows Phone 7 team, incorporating valuable ideas and technologies from KIN into future Windows Phone releases. We will continue to work with Verizon in the U.S. to sell current KIN phones.
