Android is already doing very well as the fan favorite 2.2 OS is slowly being rolled out to most of their current devices. But word around the town is that Google is prepping to announce the SDK (Software Developer Kit) for the next incarnation of Android in the form of 3.0 (or even 2.3 or 2.5) aka Gingerbread. It is rumored that Gingerbread is expected to offer more improvements in Android’s mobile gaming, a major UI overhaul for the OS and therefore lessening the need for skins (Sense, Motoblur), improved copy and pasting, rumored Google’s music store coming to the Android Market, the ability to download apps from your computer and stream music to your phone, Gingerbread may support higher screen resolution for tablets, and Google TV support. Hopefully some or all of these features will actually become implemented within the next version of Android.   I know I for one is very curious to see what Google has up their sleeves for Android now that WP7 has been announced along with they super specs of RIM’s PlayBook on the way.
