With Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals now gone, we know HDTVs were on enough people’s list of things to get. With Christmas around the corner, we know someone will be in the market to pick one up for themselves, as a gift, or add another one to their house. We thought we’d provide some key points to help with the first-time HDTV buyers.
Plasma or LCD?
Plasma HDTVs has better blacks, contrast, and motion resolution. Image burn-out/ dead pixelis no longer an issue as it once was back in the day. Plasmas aren’t quite Energy Star approved or as bright but are more reasonably priced than its competitors.
LCD HDTVs are brighter and Energy Star approved. LED-backlit LCD HDTVs offers a bridge between LCD and Plasma in regards to better color, blacks, and contrast. LEDs are more costly, but worth it. If you don’t believe me, watch The Dark Knight on Blu-Ray on a 46inch LED w/120Hz Motion & 1080p. You’ll see what I mean.
1080p or 720P?
Any HDTV under 40inches doesn’t need 1080p. With an HDTV that size, you won’t notice what you’re missing. You can save some $$$ by opting for a 720p model.
