T-Mobile CEO held a press breakfast event this morning and offered some insight into the carrier’s future. He was able to confirms the existence of a 4G Galaxy S device (the Vibrant 4G pretty much) along with officially announcing the relaunching of the Sidekick brand to the carrier. The new Sidekick of course would a 4G HSPA+ device running the Android OS. No dates were confirmed on the two devices but the words “coming soon” were attached to them. Also T-Mo is working diligently to offer the Android 2.2 update to current Vibrant users, one of the issues they’re having is to add the Wi-Fi Calling feature to the Galaxy S device. The update is coming soon as well and couldn’t offer a specific date for its release. And last but not least, he mentioned that T-Mo wouldn’t offer the iPhone due to its lack of compatibility to their 1700MHz 3G bandwidth. This doesn’t mean T-Mo will never see the iPhone but more than likely not the current iPhone 4, there’s hope with either the up-and-coming iPhone 5 or the following version of the iPhone.
