Bloomberg is reporting that RIM’s first QNX-powered BlackBerry smartphone will support Android apps when it launches early next year. PlayBook owners are still awaiting for the update for the Android support via the Android App Player as well as native email/calendar/BBM on the QNX tablet. Hopefully next month, RIM will begin to roll out the update for emailing/BBMing capabilities while the update adding the Android Player is slated for the end of the year. And for those anxiously waiting, there were rumors that RIM is trying to get their ‘superphone’ out this year but until proven otherwise expect it early 2012. Hopefully this can show people RIM is not yet done for as a smartphone competitor. Time will tell.
