Well after just visiting a GameStop website, we were well surprised that they now offer tablets. Yes you read correctly GameStop is now offering tablet devices for sale. This coming on the news of their trade in program for the iOS devices. If anyone is looking for a tablet and may be hard up for cash trade in that old iPod and get yourself something more current like an Asus Transformer, Acer Iconia 500, or a Viewsonic VPad 7. If you have a capable budget you can even pick up a Motorola Xoom tablet.
In other news, GameStop is also working with a current tablet maker to produce their own revamped GameStop Android tablet. As of now it is just talk but when they acquired Spawn Labs and Impulse Inc., earlier this year, they were thinking digital distribution all the way. (The official press release is here.)
If things go well they will manage to bring the console lifestyle to your “GameStop” tablet preloaded with games. Imagine carrying a bigger screen than your PSP but lighter than your PS3, better graphics than standard games through the Android marketplace but you will pay a handsome amount.
As GameStop prepares for this new venture let’s hope they take their time to get it right. Honestly how many more times can they reinvent the wheel? Chime in tell us what you think?
