HTC announces their entry level Android phone for first timers.  The HTC Explorer is designed for anyone that is new to the Android smartphone experience.  It is quite easy going on the user and at the same time gives you the latest software, the Gingerbread and current 3.5 HTC Sense UI (user interface). For smartphone enthusiasts this is not for you, this is for first time users to get a good feel for what Android has to offer.  Also for our US readers this is not for you, just our neighbors across seas.  At least for now.  Read further after the break.

The HTC Explorer is packed with a 3.2-inch HVGA (480 x 320) capacitive display, 600MHz processor, 3MP camera and 512MB of expandable memory.  HTC Explorer provides a complete web browsing experience with Adobe® Flash® support, and is the first in its class with a HVGA display, allowing you to run nearly all of the applications in Android Market.

“HTC Explorer is an easy-to-use smartphone that puts the customer in control, providing quick access to their most important content and information,” said Jason Mackenzie, president of global sales and marketing, HTC Corporation. “HTC Explorer is simply a smarter phone for anyone and it represents another clear demonstration of HTC’s global commitment to expanding the market for advanced smartphones.”

The HTC Explorer will be available across key markets in EMEA and Asia from Q4 2011 in Metallic Black, Active Black and Metallic Navy. Customers will also be able to customize their HTC Explorer with a range of optional back covers including Metallic Blue, Metallic Orange, Metallic White and Metallic Purple.

No word on pricing or whether it will become available in the states, but for our friends across the water expect to pay in the ball park of $150 to $200 for your entry level device.  This may be a good back up for some or even a first time phone for more responsible teens.  Our older generation might appreciate something that isn’t to overwhelming and at the same time get to carry their grandkids with them on their Facebook to show off.
