With Amazon’s Kindle Fire prepping to launch this month, Barnes & Noble is not taking this bit of news laying down.   B&N has a press event scheduled for this upcoming Monday but Engadget got the scoop on all of the device and launch details.   The new device looks to be another Nook Color but will be unveiled to the world as the Nook Tablet.  More details lie after the break.

The new Nook Tablet is obviously modeled after the popular Nook Color but has definitely refreshed some of its specs to meet the needs of consumers.   The Nook Tab is thinner by .02 inches and lighter by .09 ounces.  The internals are upgraded to 1.2GHz dual-core TI OMAP processor (opposed to a single-core), 1GB of RAM (before it was 512MB), and 16GB of storage (previously 8GB)that is expandable up to 32GB via microSD.   Launching with popular apps pre-loaded like Netflix, Hulu Plus, Pandora, etc. Still sporting a 7inch IPS touchscreen w/ 1024 x 600 resolution.

The new Nook Tablet is slated to launch with a $249 price tag which is $50 more than the Kindle Fire.   Hopefully that doesn’t pose a problem with the sales for the new Nook.   Pre-orders will kick off the same day as the announcement, Monday, November 7th with orders shipped & delivered by November 16th.
