While the Kindle Fire by Amazon just launched shortly and the Nook Color is more or less last year’s hype, the companies behind them are dedicated to keeping their consumers happy.    Many Kindle Fire owners have already brought up complaints about web browsing speeds & performance problems with the Amazon tablet.   And with the release of the Nook Tablet, Barnes & Noble wanted to make sure their Nook Color users aren’t missing out on all of the fun.    The full update details lie below.

The Kindle Fire update will offer enhancements in performance & multitouch navigation, improvements to Amazon’s Silk web browser, and the ability to edit the list of recently used apps on the home screen.   A Bigger form-factor could be shipping in the Spring as well.

The Nook Color 1.4.1 update will add Netflix & Flixster streaming apps, Nook Comics app, an in-line dictionary, and the ability to read  in landscape mode.   Expect more updates with more added features in the near future.

Each respective company plans on rolling out a software update, the Kindle Fire within two weeks and the Nook Color starting today.
