Formerly known as the XOOM 2 and the XOOM 2 Media Edition, Verizon & Motorola unveiled two new LTE Android tablets under the Droid Xyboard branding. The Xyboard will ship in a 10.1 and 8.2inch screen sizes with the specs matching those that leaked back in September. Motorola made sure they beefed up the internal specs enough to cause envy amongst XOOM owners.
Both sizes of the Xyboard will launch equipped with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, runs Android 3.2, Gorilla Glass/ IPS (In-Plane Switching) display, dual cameras (1.3MP in front & 5MP in the back) both capable of HD video, and the ability to use the tablet as a universal remote control for your TV, DVR, Blu-Ray players, etc.
The Xyboard 10.1inch tablet will arrive in three different models: 16GB ($529.99), 32GB ($629.99), and 64GB ($729.99) all w/ two-year contract. The 8.2inch Xyboard will arrive in only two models: 16GB ($429.99) and 32GB ($529.99) both w/ two-year contract.
The two Xyboard along with a White Droid Razr are all due out sometime this month for Verizon. Hopefully we will get the Nexus announcement before this launches. More details lie in the official press release below.
