Wow! Apple just took a dump on Android tablets as whole…yet again. Tim Cook unveiled the new iPad (not the iPad 3 or the iPad HD, just the iPad) as it is offering quite the smorgasbord of specs to push the envelope on what to put into a tablet. The new iPad will offer a 9.7inch Retina Display w/ 2047 x 1536 resolution offering 264ppi, still has the Home button (for those of you thinking it was MIA), now powered by a A5X enhanced dual-core processor w/ a quad-core graphics processor, has LTE support for up to 72Mbps (Damn!) along with 42Mbps HSPA+ support, has a 5MP rear iSight camera w/ auto-exposure, auto-focus, face detection, IR filter, 5-element lens that offers noise reduction in low-light. Also the 5MP optics is capable of 1080p HD video w/ image stabilization and has a front-facing HD camera as well.
The new iPad has speech recognition for voice dictation but no Siri present in case you guys were wondering. Apple’s latest tablet offers a 10 hour battery life on Wi-Fi and 9 hours on 4G LTE. It weighs in 1.4lbs and measures at 9.4mm thick with AT&T and Verizon carrier support but nothing for Sprint. Pricing is pretty much the same as previously with the Wi-Fi pricing: $499 for 16GB, $599 for 32GB, & $699 for the 64GB models. LTE pricing is $629 for the 16GB, $729 for the 32GB, & $829 for the 64GB models. Pre-orders start today in the US, UK, France Germany, Switzerland, and Japan with a full launch on March 16th. Other Apple countries will have to wait until March 23rd. And there you have it. The new iPad just set the way for tablets along with a 4G LTE iPhone 5. Definitely worth the wait.
