Sprint looks like they are ready to move forward by releasing their LTE smartphones even though there is no LTE network available of yet. Earlier today, the carrier announced the LG Viper coming later this month on April 22nd and taking pre-orders starting today. The Viper offers users a 4inch Gorilla Glass display w/ 800 x 480 resolution, running Android 2.3 (no ICS?) w/ Sprint ID pack, powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of storage, and dual cameras (VGA in front & 5MP in the rear) w/ single LED flash.
The Viper is priced at $99.99 on contract after $50 mail-in rebate. The mid-level Android device already has stiff competition with the high-end Galaxy Nexus, EVO LTE, and possibly the Galaxy Note. The Nexus is actually rumored to launch on the same day but no confirmation from Sprint on the matter as of yet.
