The Galaxy Note 10.1 was scheduled to launch earlier within the year but Samsung went back to beef up the processor to make it more competitive and future-proof. Apparently Amazon quietly placed the new Note 10.1 on their site available for pre-order for $549.99, scheduled to ship in 3 to 5 weeks. The newer Note now offers a 1.4GHz Exynos quad-core processor (even though Amazon says Intel Xenon) as opposed to the 1.4GHz dual-core chipset that it was equipped with previously. In case you were thinking this is just a Tab 10.1 w/ stylus support, Samsung added a new feature with this TouchWiz UX to allow 4 screens open at once for simple multitasking. Interested consumers can reserve theirs now.

Samsung had Amazon pull the pre-order page as it was posted prematurely in error. I guess they weren’t quite ready yet.
