According to the WSJ, Google is currently exploring options to become a wireless carrier to compete with the likes of AT&T & Verizon.  The house of Android is currently in talks with DISH Network to collaborate on a providing wireless service.  DISH Network has been seeking a partner to enter the wireless arena for quite some time.  The satellite provider already has wireless distribution they have been sitting on since 2008 I’m sure they are itching to use with a willing company.

This goes hand-in-hand with Google’s expansion beyond the cellular world with the previous launch of their speedy fiber network, Google Fiber in Kansas City.  Also coinciding with the lack of LTE of the latest pure Android device, the Nexus 4 due to giving up control of Android’s freedom.
If you can’t get things done the way you want them done, do it yourself.
