While we already reviewed the One and are getting more familiar with the Galaxy S4, we decided to put the camera between the two flagship Android devices to a duel.  The camera spec sheet between the two devices make it seem like complete polar opposites.  HTC uses a 4MP f/2.0 Ultrapixel lens (that takes advantage of larger pixels to take in more light) against Samsung’s 13MP f/2.2 lens (one of the few manufacturers who stepped up the megapixels from 8MP-13MP).

We got photos and videos from both shooters side-by-side, used in everyday situations so you can get a feel of what each shooter is capable of and which one might be more suitable for you.  Especially if the camera is a deal breaker for anyone interested in picking up one fo the two.  Let’s begin, shall we?
*Keep in mind, we focused on pure optical ability, not camera modes & features.

So with the two different types of lenses used, which one is actually better?  Honestly it truly depends on your personal needs.  The One offers less dynamic range and doesn’t offer a large amount of detail but has better low-light performance.   While the GS4 provides a more clarity, brighter colors but fails in low-light – even using the Night photo setting didn’t help.  Comparing the lenses are like Apples to Oranges as both shooters have their highs and lows.

To better answer the question poised in the above paragraph.  If you want to just take great photos/ video from social media sites or a YouTube vlogger – the HTC One is for you.  If you plan or like the option to do more with your photos like print them out/ blow it up to frame it – then the Galaxy S4 is for you.   Honestly, you can’t lose with either one.
