It looks like history could be repeating itself.   Late last year, HTC unveiled the Butterfly overseas – a high end Android device w/ a great specs.   That wound up becoming Droid DNA for Verizon.  Earlier this morning, HTC just unveiled an slightly beefier version of it called the Butterfly S.  Just as Verizon is waiting to launch its HTC One later this summer.
I think this is why Verizon waited on the HTC One.
The Butterfly S adds an even faster 1.9GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor and a larger 3200 mAh battery. The device still retains its superior 5inch Super LCD3 display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, Ultrapixel rear-shooter + 2.1 wide-angle front-shooter w/ Zoe features, BlinkFeed, BoomSound and Sense 5 running on top of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
It even retains the Black & Red Droid-branded color scheme which is quite coincidental.  Yesterday the official Twitter page for the Droid brand just became active again after months of inactivity.  Hopefully VZW will keep the microSD slot this time around when bringing it to the states.

Below lies a demo video of the actual device.
