After previous leaks & rumors, Microsoft finally let their pride-and-joy out of its comfort zone and is now available on the iPhone.  With the iOS version of Office, you can create new Excel + Word documents along with editing or viewing spreadsheets, docs, & PowerPoint files you have on Microsoft’s cloud services.  The app brings you offline editing as well.   There is one little detail you need to know about it – it requires an Office 365 subscription to use.

“In it’s limited state, I’ll stick to the free Google Docs in the meantime.”

For those of you who don’t know, Office 365 will cost you $100 annually but doesn’t truly benefit you if you only have one PC.  The subscription model makes more sense for a team or someone bouncing back-and-forth between 5 or more PCs.  In it’s limited state, I’ll stick with Google Docs in the meantime for my cloud-based document needs.  But if you do have a 365 subscription, you can grab it for you iPhone running iOS 6.1 or higher right now.   The service is not yet ready for the iPad but is on the way.
