Alongside the new Kindle Fire HDX tablets, Amazon updated their software as well to offer more w/ their new hardware. Their new software update for the Fire OS brings it up to v3.0 named Mojito as it is running a version of Android 4.2. All of the new changes and features lie past the break.
The new update brings you better touch response, adds label management in email, threaded messaging + email, built-in media libraries that’s stored on the device or in the cloud, adds support for wireless printing, adds social integration (Facebook + Twitter) support in Goodreads, the X-Ray app now works w/ music, Second Screen feature allows you share your content to your TV, and better cloud functionality. You also have Prime Instant Video available offline but its only exclusive to the HDX line.
The new highlight is a new feature called the Mayday button. Mayday is Amazon’s real-time support as specialists pop-up in a small window to offer visual cues and/or control the tablet remotely to solve any issues. Mayday is accessed within your Quick Settings to connect within 15 seconds and specialists are available 24 hours + 365 days. Amazon will definitely force companies to step their customer support game up.
The new update is only available for the new HDX line and updated 7inch Fire HD. Some of the aforementioned features are coming as part of the OS 3.1 update coming mid-November via OTA.
