Sony also announced today the QX10 & QX100 Cybershot camera accessories for smartphones. These lenses pack in full Sony Cybershot camera sensors into compact attachments for ANY smartphone (Android or iOS). Once attached, the lenses use NFC to pair with the phone and connect to it via Wi-Fi, effectively turning a smartphone into the body of the camera with viewfinder and controlling mechanism.
The QX100 features the same 20.2MP Exmor R CMOS sensor as Sony’s latest RX100M2 camera, with a Carl Zeiss lens and 3.6x optical zoom. It also features a large control ring that allows for more manual control focus, as well as, an array of shooting modes.
The QX10 features a 18.2MP Exmor R CMOS sensor with 10x optical zoom. It is a smaller, more compact lens and lacks some of the shooting modes found in the QX100. While it doesn’t have as many shooting modes it does however come in 3 different colors: Black, White & Red.
