We spoke about Google Glass offering prescription lens support previously and now that time is officially upon us.  Introducing the Google Glass Titanium Collection: made of lightweight, titanium metals and instead of partnering w/ optical manufacturers like Rochester Optical and Warby Parker as many thought they would, Google crafted the frames themselves.  Arriving in four different frame styles, they will be available later this afternoon.

This is Google Glass for real but at a hefty cost.

The bad news is that this is still all part of the Explorer program and will have to be chosen in case you were interested.  Also Google Glass w/ prescription lenses will be quite a costly feat as you still need to pay $1500 + tax for Google Glass then $225 for the screw-on frames will easily get you close to 2Gs.  For existing Explorers looking to switch up, your prescription lenses can be covered by vision insurances like VSP to help w/ the cost.

They also unveiled new support for 2 new sunglasses as well to the mix.  If you are strapped for $$$, don’t get too envious as the commercial version of Glass is rumored to launch sometime later this year as it will hopefully be a lot cheaper.
