Earlier today, Google announced the upcoming expansion to Google Fiber.  For those of you not aware of exactly what it is, it is Google high-speed Gigabit Internet service that reaches speeds up to 1 Gigabit (128MB per second) both on the download + upload side of things.  Kansas City, KS was the 1st lucky location to get the Fiber treatment then Austin, Texas and Provo, Utah.   Now we know of more on the way.

Now Fiber will make its way to 9 more metro areas consisting of 34 cities like:

Atlanta, Georgia
Charlotte, North Carolina
Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina
Nashville, Tennessee
Phoenix, Arizona
Portland, Oregon
Salt Lake City, Utah
San Antonio, Texas
San Jose, California

There are 3 types of plans on Fiber: the Gigabit Internet plan for $70/month, the Gigabit Internet + TV/DVR plan for $120/month, and the Free Internet plan will give you basic broadband speeds (up to 5Mbps download, 1 Mbps upload) for a one-time, $30 installation fee, then no monthly costs for at least 7 years.
Even though Fiber is making its way to these new markets, the deals may not work out.
