Right on cue just literally hours before the official unveiling we see the new Galaxy S5 in all of its glory.  As you can see it pretty much resembles the mesh of the S4 and the Note 3 in a way.  For those of you hoping for Samsung to start building w/ metal components – keep waiting.  High-end plastic but still plastic nonetheless.  More photos below.

The camera UI gets simpler.  It is supposed to armed w/ a 16MP rear-facing shooter w/ new LED flash array that’s capable of recording video in 4K.  The front-facing shooter gets upgraded to 3.2MP.

A new, previously unreported feature is the Download Booster.  For files over 30MB, it will utilize both Wi-Fi and LTE at the same time download faster.  I’d imagine this is something you don’t want to use often as it may put a damper on your battery.

Up close you can see the new button layout.  You can see a less-intrusive version of TouchWiz UX to let Android 4.4. KitKat shine a bit more (yes, I said KitKat).  We could actually see Google Now on-board as well.  You see the Menu button is replaced w/ the recently opened app button from stock Android. The Home button looks a bit larger as it is supposed to double as a fingerprint scanner.  You will be able to do cool things like authorize PayPal payments w/ a single swipe.

You can see the S5 side-by-side w/ the S4 to see the difference in size.  The leather-looking plastic rear is present but not quite the same as on the Note 3 though.  The bottom of the S5 has cover for the USB 3.0 charging port suggesting some sort of water-resistant at play.

As far as the rest of the hardware it will have a 5inch 1080p HD AMOLED display, 3GB of RAM, 32 or 64GB of storage, a 3200 mAh battery, and depending on where you are in the world: a quad-core Snapdragon 800 or 805 CPU or 8-core Exynos CPU.

Not sure if we will still see the anticipated Prime version w/ a 2K (2560 x 1440 resolution + 560ppi) display but everything kicks off at 2PM.  Check back with us and we’ll keep you posted.
