Previous reports more or less matched up the specs w/ the official w/ a 4.7inch 720p display, powered by a 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 CPU w/ 2GB of RAM, dual stereo speakers w/ Dolby Digital Audio Amazon’s phone has a total of 6 cameras: 5 on the front (4 low-power infrared sensors for the device’s 3D UI + 1 front-facing) & one f/2.0 13MP shooter on the rear w/ OIS along w/ unlimited cloud photo storage.
Amazon beefed up their software w/ a dash of slightly different hardware to create their vision of a smartphone.
The multiple front-facing cameras will offer a 3D perspective. Sending a text message, a tilt will access your camera roll to insert a photo and so on and so forth. All of this w/ MayDay (Amazon’s in-device 24-hour customer service tool) built-in. You will have X-Ray + 2nd screen support on the Fire phone. It will cone equipped w/ magnetic ear buds + flat, tangle-free cables.
Amazon’s big piece of the Fire Phone’s puzzle is their Firefly feature. It allows your Fire Phone to recognize over 100 million items (from real world items like text/images to media content) using its camera. Think of this as another way for you to quick make a purchase of a particular item on Amazon’s site. Good move! For a limited time, anyone who buys the Fire Phone will get Amazon Prime for one-year. Great deal since prime is $99 for the year usually.
The Fire Phone will come to AT&T ONLY as the WSJ reported and will be priced at $199 on contract for the 32GB model/ $27 on AT&T’s Next program for the 32GB or $299 for the 64GB model/$37.50 on Next. AT&T will begin taking pre-orders tomorrow and will ship on July 25th. Amazon will have the 64GB model for $299 and unlocked for $649.
