Looks like Google is looking to get into the health + fitness arena of tech as well. According to a report from Forbes, the house of Android will unveil a new management service just for that at this year’s Google I/O. The new service will be called Google Fit.
Google looks to join the ranks of Samsung’s S Health + Apple’s Health Kit.
Google Fit will record data from fitness trackers + apps like steps taken, heart rate, etc. The Fit service could be a standalone service or embedded as part of a new version of Android coming. No mention as of yet of whether or not Google will unveil their own fitness tracker or would the option be included into Android Wear watches. If Google is involved, they have many partnerships w/ many companies as they could tag-team w/ many companies to get this done right.
Google I/O is less than 2 weeks away. We do expect to see the last Nexus device, more Android Wear details and now this. Shaping up to be another hot summer in tech.
