Looks like everything may be lining up for Sprint (now owned + bankrolled by Softbank) to acquire T-Mobile here in the US. According to Bloomberg, the deal could be made official and announced sometime next month. The terms of the deal would have Sprint buying T-Mo for $40 per share and would result in a half cash, half stock deal.
It might 3 major carriers if this merger goes through.
This looks like this is finally happening. But why next month and not now for the announcement? There are still many details to finalize like who would run the company: John Legere? Dan Hesse? Or someone entirely new? Obviously the devil is in the details and still need to be ironed out.
When this deal gets the official OK, it will still be subject to regulatory approval.
