Verizon Denies That NSA Asked For Reports
Looks like Verizon is looking to further force the hands of their grandfathered unlimited data users. We told you last week that starting in October, those on unlimited data using more than 4.7GB of data will get throttled. Now they have another way to get rid of more users.

Starting on August 24th, Verizon will require all subscribers who upgrade or activate a new smartphone to have a data plan for their contract. This will apply to those grandfathered on unlimited plans as well. Those that move over will keep the $9.99 per month feature line. To dodge this bullet, you’ll have to buy a device at full retail, buy on Verizon Edge, or sign up to their More Everything plan.

Don’t get mad at Verizon as they forewarned you they were shooting to minimize their amount of unlimited data users.
