Today is the day to get your hands on the new iPhones (or at least try to anyways).  Your choices: the 4.7inch iPhone 6 or the 5.5inch iPhone 6 Plus.   Both are quite similar other than size other than a few differences.  Availability for both models especially the iPhone 6 Plus has been a hard to come by.  Unless you were one of the lucky ones to successfully pre-order last week or scored one today waiting in line.  While you now have 2 new iPhones to choose from, now its time to choose - for those buying one.

i6 displays

Display

Many folks that bash Apple target its display and its weird resolution.  If your going spec-for-spec, that is true.  The 'Retina Display' has been good enough for the previous 3.5inch and 4inch sizes.  Now that they're stepping it up, that just won't do anymore.  The i6 Plus is the 1st iPhone to sport a 1080p 'Retina HD' display w/ 401ppi.  Not that video was bad before but you can finally see how Apple does full HD.  Not only that you get higher contrast and is now even better to view outdoors.

i6 optics

True OIS

While it still another 8MP rear shooter (sigh)but improved w/ better performance + such, you now have the ability of Optical Image Stabilization or OIS.  Previous it was only on Android and Lumia devices as it has finally made its way to Apple.  This allows your photos to compensate for a shaky hand to get better photos rather than a Flash-like blur.  This feature is only present on the 6 Plus as the 6 has only a digital version of it.

iPhone 6 Plus UI

Software

While this may not be a big deal for many of you, Apple made sure to take advantage of the bigger size by including some new software tweaks just for the 6 Plus.  For starters, you can double-tap (not press) the Home button as the screen drop down towards the bottom to make it easier to use in one hand.  Then you the option to make the homescreen in landscape mode for the 1st time ever - for those of you who ever wanted to do that.  Also when rotating the screen in select apps, you'll be able to see double the info.  So in apps like Mail, you can see the list of emails on the left and then the full content on the right.  Pretty much mimicking the iPad's UI.  This new software UI turns your 6 Plus into an iPad mini mini.

The iPhone 6 is a moderate size iOS device.  Being 4.7inches is the current 'perfect' device in our eyes for many devices bigger than a 4inch both stepping into 'phablet' size.  While 6 Plus is better for those of you who love to stream media (photos,YouTube, Netflix, HBO Go), browsing the web, etc. If none of this matter to you, then by all means save yourself some $$$ and pick up the 4.7inch iPhone 6.
