Latest reports to the iPhone 6 Plus has not been anything to take lightly. With over 10 million sales of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, Apple may have been ready for anything the critics had to say, but the fact is, their aluminum frame for the 6 Plus is bending. Yes that is right, bending. This is while in people's pockets. Thus far there has not been any complaints for the iPhone 6, but it is coming in more so for the 6 Plus.
Maybe Apple should've held off on the 6 Plus to avoid #bentgate.
Oddly enough applying to much pressure on the device has caused it to bend or in a few situations screens have cracked. Primarily the bend is occurring around the volume keys and the SIM slot areas but that may just be the weakest points. The structure is longer and although aluminium it just doesn't seem to work as well as other devices.
Not exactly what you would expect, especially from Apple. I am guessing there will be a recall and recourse to this. Everyone knows Apple was hesitant in jumping in the big frame phone arena, could this be why? Let's just hope they correct this like they did with the U2 controversy, which came with mixed reviews from their 500 million users that downloaded the album.
As you can see from the video above, Samsung's phablets don't have this problem. Apple it's time to start considering your options. You may want to enlist other manufacturers to build your frames and continue working on the software and design.
The good folks over at iMore has some tips to keep this from happening to you.
- Do not put your iPhone in your back pocket.
- Ensure that your iPhone stays upright (parallel to your leg) in your front pocket (having it horizontal looks stupid anyway)
- Put the iPhone in a shirt or coat pocket, or in your purse.
- Use a case.
Either way you look at iPhone 6 and 6 Plus early adopters, start protecting your new device or prepare to shell out some more $$$.
I guess now we need to see what to expect in October from the Samsung team with the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Edge. We already see the durablilty of the Note 3. Tell us what you think.
