I found TripAdvisor very helpful when taking my trip to Washington D.C. It helped to narrow down what would be the best places to visit with the kids and the most interested parts of those said places. Since it is based on the responses of other people it makes it very personal. Not everyone has the same family dynamics.
For our first family trip there were many suggestions but we had decided on something close yet far enough to accommodate a road trip adventure. This is why we chose Washington D.C. There were also some many things to do in Virginia and Maryland so if we decided the District of Colombia wasn’t a solid bet we had other options, thanks TripAdvisor.
I know the interest are different for everyone, and Trip Advisor does as well. Some families are interested in more historical artifacts especially going to the biggest museum location in the United States, this could be overwhelming in an attempt to see everything. My family has interests in Space and Air which made the Smithsonian a definite place to visit. My son, at the age of 4 is very hands on, this made any interactive exhibition ideal for him. TripAdvisor helped out by letting us know which of the museums and tourists attractions gave adequate timing for these activities. Through customer reviews and helpful hints we managed to get quite a bit done for each of the days we spent in D.C.
Just because fall is coming doesn’t mean you can’t still get away somewhere.
TripAdvisor was most helpful for me and my family when it came down to finding a place to stay. There were tons of recommendations for a few different hotels, motels, and bed & breakfasts but I needed a place that I would feel comfortable with having my family stay. If it was just me I (would) could have gone cheap and pretty much a place to lay my head. If it was just my wife and I, (I) we would just need to make sure she was comfortable. Since it was my wife and kids I needed to make sure it had a pool, AC, breakfast, not super rowdy and was adequate with parking privileges. Alas TripAdvisor found the perfect hotel without breaking the bank and met all of my needs.
