We were invited to party and test out the latest from Toshiba w/ the Chromebook 2. This is their 2nd generation Chrome OS-based laptop due later this month. This looks to be an official Chromebook w/ some decent specs.
Toshiba beat everyone to the punch w/ a powerful Chromebook.
For starters, the Chromebook 2 starts at $250 and goes up to $330. The higher end model sporting a 1080p IPS display (non-touchscreen) powered by a dual-core Intel Celeron CPU, 16GB of storage, and has up to 4GB of RAM. Alongside it are a SD card slot, HDMI out, 2 USB ports (one 2.0 and one 3.0), Wi-Fi 802.11ac and a audio jack (headphones + mic).
It has a nice weight to it. Keyboard feels great to type on and the trackpad has a nice feel to it. For a change of things, SkullCandy is providing the sounds w/ a pair of dual front-facing speakers + dual mics for better video chats.
Definitely looks like a top tier Chromebook but its something you won't expect Toshiba to beat everyone to the punch. Looking forward to testing it on a daily basis.
