Well that was fast. Earlier this morning we shared the news of Google working on a task-based email system codenamed Bigtop. This afternoon, they made it official by unveiling it as Inbox by Gmail. Its pretty much everything we shared w/ you earlier but now have an official name.
So in other words, Gmail + Mailbox + Google Now = Inbox.
Inbox will bundle similar messages, reminders, to-dos, and highlight the important ones w/ the ability to see flight info, photos, attachments w/o having to open the email. Google looks to solidify their stance in email. They hope to better organize your email so you won’t spend as much time browsing through it.
And lastly, it will iOS users a great Gmail experience for once. Inbox can be downloaded right now on the Play Store but will require an invite to access it. FOr those of you who are interested, email inbox@google.com to request an invite for yourself.
