JVC UHDTV
Earlier this week, we were invited to NYC see the latest from JVC’s Diamond Series HDTVs.   Their newest member being this lovely 85inch 4K (or UHD) TV.  Making this their biggest UHD TV to-date allowing consumers raise the bar on what they perceive as home theater options.

So what makes this UHDTV so special you might ask?  Other than utilizing a direct LED backlight, it superb color reproduction thanks to their 64 zones of local dimming that adjusts backlighting to get the most out of your digital content.  JVC’s Crystal Motion Pro offers 240 scenes per second along w/ a 50 million to 1 contrast ratio.  Also, the CPU inside supports their UHD upscaling tech which boosts standard HD to bring it closer to UHD quality.  This will hold you over until more 4K content becomes available.

We saw The Dark Knight Rises on Blu-Ray upscaled and it looks pretty damn-good on it.

JVC UHD Remote
The TV ships w/ a Roku streaming stick since they have the most content (over 1,500 channels to be exact) in one accessory.  That’s not all.  The remote control, as you can see above, is dual sided w/ your standard layout on the front + a trackpad w/ QWERTY keyboard layout on the other side. The usual suspects include an Ethernet port, Wi-Fi + Wi-Fi browser, 5 HDMI ports w/ the 5th one also supporting MHL as well, and a 60-watt, 4 speaker XinemaSound 3D sound setup that sounded pretty damn good for being in a hotel suite.

JVC UHD TV menu
I like that JVC gave its menu a more unique look to it.  Not your typical, bland menu.  Not as different as the webOS-enabled LG HDTVs but a good runner up IMO.    The 85inch UHDTV will begin shipping sometime in January for $8,000.
