Just in time to kick off Toy Fair 2015, Google x Mattel collaborated to give the View Master a refresh for the new day + age. The original VM was unveiled at the 1939 World’s Fair in NYC as the device is now over 75 years old believe it or not. The new 2015 View Master now works w/ Google Cardboard to really offer a better 3D experience.
This is the View Master for today – powered by Android.
As some of you might have guessed, it works w/ Google Cardboard to power it. This makes better use of today’s technology to offer a great virtual reality experience where kids and people of all ages can explore landmarks, nature, planets, & more using 360-degree photospheres. All you need is an Android device, the View Master itself and the app to step inside of their new interactive learning environment.
The all-new View Master will be out sometime this fall for $30. It comes w/ the headset + a sample reel as additional sample reels will cost you $15. Each pack will offer one of the 4 themes like nature, adventure locations and science.
Definitely gonna pick one up for my nieces when it launches, how about you?
