Though almost one year after unveiling the powerful + portable Surface Pro 3, its younger brother has arrived. Earlier this morning, Microsoft unveiled the Surface 3. This is the newest mobile powerhouse is now the lightest as it weighs in at only 1.38lbs and only 8.7mm thin.
This is now the lightest + thinnest Surface on the market.
It is powered by a quad-core 1.6GHz Intel Atom x7 CPU, running a 64-bit version of Windows 8.1 upgradeable to Windows 10, choice of 2GB of RAM w/ 64GB SSD or 4GB of RAM w/ 128GB SSD, a 10.8inch 1080p touchscreen display, 3.5MP front-facing shooter + 8MP rear-facing shooter w/ autofocus, stereo speakers w/ Dolby audio, a 10-hour battery life, and comes w/ 1TB cloud storage of OneDrive and 1-year of Office 365 personal for free as well.
Just like the image above, it only has 3 stop-kickstand so it doesn’t come w/ the free range as on the Pro 3. Also, unlike the Pro 3 it utilizes micro-USB for charging instead of the magnetic cable. It does retain the 1 USB 3.0 + Mini Display port, headset jack, and microSD card slot.
The Surface 3 starts at $499 as it will ship w/ just the tablet by itself. If you want the Type cover keyboard or Surface Pen, you’re gonna have to pay extra for it. You can pre-order yours today as it will go on sale on May 5th. There will also be an LTE model of the Surface 3 arriving later this year. Starting tomorrow, you can stop by your local Microsoft Store to demo one for yourself.
