While it’s only been a week since Pebble announced their reimagining of their smartwatch for 2015, the company has already been able to procure over $12.5 million in funding via Kickstarter. Earlier this morning @MWC, they unveiled their 2nd watch w/ the Steel version of the Pebble Time.
This is a little bit more than just better materials.
Pebble’s not waiting to take care of the premium crowd. Like the regular Time, it will offer the latest version of the Pebble OS. The display sports a new laminated screen as the new Time Steel is 1mm thicker than the Time w/ a stainless steel casing as it ships w/ both a leather + stainless steel bands. The steel gets a battery bump from 5-7 days on the regular Time to 7-10 days of battery life. But there’s more.
Pebble is working on something called smartstraps which will allow developers to add sensors directly into the bands for support of GPS and heart-rate tracking.
The Pebble Steel Time will begin shipping 2 months after the standard Time and will be priced at $250 (a retail price tag of $299 when it the stores). If you already backed the Time, you can upgrade to the Time Steel if you wish. Hit the link below to get your order in.
