Earlier this week, Canon unveiled a new beast w/ the new XC10 camcorder. The XC10 is a super-compact shooter that is capable of handling everything you need for great photos + up to 4K video. This is truly the best of both worlds.
Canon merged the best of the photography + videography into one shooter.
You have 1inch 12MP sensor w/ a ISOs up to 20,000 to handle things on the photo side of things. On the video side of things you can shoot 12 stops of dynamic range w/ H.264 recording, 4K video at 30fps, 1080p at 60 fps, and 720p at 120fps. The Xc10 unfortunately has a fixed lens but its good enough to cover everything you will need. It has a 24-240mm equivalent f/2.8-5.6 lens capable of 10x optical zoom w/ image stabilization. You do have a mic + headphone jack, HDMI port, USB + Wi-Fi features.
The Canon XC10 is due out in June and will sport a hefty price tag along w/ it. Expect to shell out $2,500 for it for those of you who must have this in your life.
