android auto hyundai 2
Last year at Google I/O, Android Auto was one of the things announced that we haven’t really seen much of it really since.  There were a few car companies at CES showing off support for it and now we see one of them is ready to offer it to the world inside of a production car.  Hyundai is that company and the 2015 Sonata is the vehicle.

Android Auto will be an interface on top of Hyundai’s own navigation system as it will bring Google Maps, Google Voice Search, the ability to send/receive text messages, take phone calls, and play music or podcasts from native & 3rd-party apps.  Everything can be controlled via voice or touchscreen or steering wheel controls.

Those of you interested only need to have a device running Android 5.0 Lollipop as it can be plugged into the Sonata’s USB port.  Those of you who already purchased a 2015 Sonata w/ the navigation +tech package can bring your car into your local dealer to update your system starting today.  Owners will also have the option to update your car’s vehicles themselves later this summer.

This is just the 1st to come as Google has partnered w/ 30 automakers for Android Auto.  For those of you interested, I’d highly recommend you swing by your local Hyundai dealer for more info.
