Google I/O is only a few short days away but that won’t stop any last-minute reports, leaks, or speculations before the event. The latest tidbit comes from BuzzFeed in regards to what might be announced for the next version of Android.
While we don’t know what the M stands for just yet, Android M is coming. Their report suggests that native Fingerprint Authentication to the OS as now its only present via manufacturers like Samsung’s fingerprint reader on the S6. Expect it to be baked into the OS so it can offer more functions than just unlocking your phone. This is more so one-touch logins for supported apps instead of typing in passwords.
This would make fingerprint readers more of a standard of sorts for Android device manufacturers. Interesting move as hopefully, we get to see more details on what to expect from Android M. We’ll be present at I/O this year and looking forward to seeing everything Google has to unveil.
